Mr. Joshua Caleb Mallet joined COL's staff on 15 March 2004 on secondment from the University of Education, Winneba. A citizen of the Western African Republic of Ghana and educated in Africa, Europe and North America, he has been involved in distance education since 1994. Joshua is a pioneer of Ghana's distance education and has worked as Administrator for Distance Learning in the University of Education, Winneba for the past nine years. He is a writer, editor and trainer of trainers in distance education; has worked with teacher associations and has served as an educational consultant for French education and distance learning. He is known for taking an active role in partnership work and has most recently been associated with projects involving the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Simon Fraser University, UNESCO and the World Federation of French Teachers.
Joshua has been closely associated with livelihood training in Ghana and other countries and has assisted NGOs and national institutions working with low-income populations to help them create employment opportunities, especially for young women. His achievements in literacy education using ODL methodologies has included working with rural dwellers in Ghana. He has undertaken consultancies for COL including working on the STAMP 2000+ programme and a technical/vocational education and training (TVET) initiative in Ghana.
Joshua was a counsellor at the Police Academy and Training School of Winneba, which has the objective of equipping young recruits to be dedicated to their vocation and to encourage their spouses to take on income-earning activities.
