Ms. Patricia Schlicht joined the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in 2000, bringing her international expertises from a variety national and international Governments, and non-government organisations to COL.

Her outstanding organisational skills have provided her with the ability to organise high profile national and international conferences, missions and tradeshows for senior Government dignitaries and heads of high profile organisations but is not limit to this.

She is currently part of a multi-ethical, multi-cultural team of two Education Specialists working in the area of Learning and Livelihoods and eLearning and Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), where she is coordinating program work. In the last few years, she has also gained extensive experiences in the areas of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Learning Materials Development.

Ms. Schlicht graduated as a Foreign Language Secretary with a Diploma in English and Spanish as a second language from Colon College in Hamburg, Germany. She obtained certificates in international marketing, global entrepreneurship and international trade research (FittSkills), from the British Columbia Institute of International Trade (BCISIT). In addition, she graduated from a Self-Employment Programme offered by Douglas College in Vancouver, Canada and consequently ran her own business.

Besides her full-time responsibilities at COL, Ms. Schlicht has acquired a broad knowledge of the Pacific Rim, which supports her work at the Commonwealth of Learning (COL). From September 2002-2004, Ms. Schlicht has successfully completed the Pacific Rim Program at Langara College in Vancouver, Canada and obtained a Certificate in Pacific Rim Studies.

The Pacific Rim Study Program is part of the Social Sciences Division at Langara College in Vancouver. It offers a variety of academic courses, special events and off-campus activities directed towards developing an understanding of and an appreciation for the cultures and peoples of the Asia-Pacific region. They specifically focus on the dynamic regions, noting the important interactions between and among such variables as language, culture, business, politics, education and technology.

In August 2004, Ms. Schlicht was accepted into the Access Study Program at the University of British Columbia (UBC), to continue her studies by distance.

Mrs. Schlicht is used to showing initiative and to working in a fast-paced demanding work environment while maintaining confidentiality and integrity within a team of professionals. She is highly skilled in the use of information and communication technologies for project follow up. Her analytical abilities and skills of Information Technology enable her to carry out research work for project design and project evaluation.

The versatility of her background and multi-layered international experiences of over two decades and the combination of educational skills and practical experiences in these fields, enable Ms. Schlicht to successfully excel in the execution of the tasks assigned to her and to contribute to a result-oriented team.
