Join COL’s Gaborone to New Delhi Compact for AI in education, launched at the India AI Impact Summit. More than a policy statement, the Compact provides a blueprint for “sovereign, private, and secure” AI that aligns with national regulatory frameworks and systematically builds domestic capability.
We’re inviting signatories to work within a Commonwealth alliance toward a framework for deploying a local, open-source approach to AI that respects data sovereignty, reaffirms AI in education as a public good, and places educators at the centre of technological integration.

Happy 47th Independence Day, Saint Lucia!
COL works with partners in Saint Lucia to support higher education and skills for work, primarily through the Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC) network.
With support from the Saint Lucia Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, the Advancing Caribbean Teachers (ACT) in Mathematics project is helping tackle learners’ underperformance in mathematics in the country. Alongside this, a new MOU with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), headquartered in Saint Lucia, is enhancing digital learning, open education, and teacher development across the region, driving progress towards equitable, quality education and lifelong learning in the country.
Strong partnerships will continue to drive COL’s work in Saint Lucia with learners and educators in the years ahead.
COL is proud to support the Ministry Of Technical and Higher Education, Sierra Leone (MTHE) to validate the country’s first National Micro-credential Framework.
The Framework, drafted through a collaborative workshop held in December with key national stakeholders, has now been formally validated as legally binding by the Director of Higher Education at MTHE.
This milestone reflects strong national leadership in strengthening the country’s credentialing systems and expanding access to flexible, skills-based learning pathways.
