This week, the Commonwealth Secretariat hosted a #CSW70 side event, Advancing Climate Justice for Women through Gender-Responsive Climate Finance, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Dr. Jyotsna Jha, COL’s Director: Skills, joined distinguished global gender experts and SIDS leaders to explore how evidence-driven approaches can translate gender commitments into tangible and equitable climate outcomes across the Commonwealth.

The event was opened by the Honourable Myles La Roda, Minister for Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, Bahamas, and was attended by Her Excellency Anne Marie Davis, First Lady of the Bahamas.

COL looks forward to implementing perspectives from the session into actionable pathways to enhance gender-responsive climate-resiliency across the Commonwealth Member States.

This week, in the spirit of International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting resources that strengthen knowledge, advocacy, and action for the rights of women and girls around the Commonwealth.

Through our flagship gender equality project, Empowering Women and Girls, COL, with the generous support of Global Affairs Canada, strengthens the capacity of trainers and practitioners working across rural communities to prevent gender-based violence. The Women’s Rights and Gender-Based Violence: Training Manual is designed for trainers of trainers to prepare future educators to lead learning with their own students and communities.
