A draft National Micro-Credential Framework for Sierra Leone was developed and validated on 4 December 2025, marking a major milestone in the country’s mission toward more flexible and inclusive learning pathways.

This achievement follows extensive consultations, including two virtual meetings with the national working group and a two-day in-person workshop with more than 80 stakeholders across education, the skills sector, private industry, civil service, and military and special duties in attendance.

With a draft now in place, the framework needs to be finalized and approved by the government before the Ministry of Technical and Higher education can roll it out nationally across all education districts.

COL will continue to support the process by working with pilot institutions to develop institutional micro-credential frameworks, design pilot courses, and facilitate the creation of a National Micro-Credentials Registry.
