From India to Canada, COL brings people and ideas together across the Commonwealth as a network of expertise for governments and institutions.
During a recent visit to COL headquarters in Vancouver, a delegation of university leaders from Telangana met with counterparts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) to exchange perspectives on the future of higher education.
At UBC, Professor Chakrapani Ghanta, Vice Chancellor of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University, and Professor Kumar Molugaram, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, met with Dr Simon Bates, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Teaching and Learning. Their discussion explored how AI and digital innovation can support more personalised, inclusive, and responsive learning, including more responsible use of AI, assessment design for hybrid learning, recognition of prior learning, and data security and sovereignty.
At SFU, the delegation met with Vinitha Gengatharan, Executive Lead, International Strategy; Mark Keilthy, Director, Global Engagement for Asia, South Pacific, and the Americas; and G. James Meschino, Director, Campus Planning & Development. The visit included a walking tour of the campus and discussions on opportunities for international collaboration.
These exchanges reflect COL’s role in connecting expertise and creating opportunities for institutions to learn from one another as they respond to the opportunities and challenges in education. COL thanks the leadership teams at UBC and SFU for their warm welcome.
We also look forward to building this momentum through our partnership agreement with BRAOU, and to continuing our work together to support teachers and learners while strengthening institutions.
