Happy 78th Independe

Happy 78th Independence Day, Sri Lanka!

COL is proud to support learners across Sri Lanka through initiatives focused on girls’ and women’s education, higher education, teacher education, lifelong learning for farmers, and technology-enabled learning.

Through CEMCA (Cemca Col), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka and Changeinkk Foundation, 73 teachers were recently trained on mainstreaming students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) during a three-day programme. The Empowering Women & Girls Project (COL4D's Empowering Women & Girls) continues its work across 33 villages on women’s human rights, GBV protection, justice-seeking mechanisms, climate action and entrepreneurship through the development of open educational resources, videos, podcasts, Moodle courses, and the use of AptusPi devices in rural classrooms.

We are also honoured to have the Honourable Dr Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Sri Lanka, as the regional appointment for Asia on our Board. We look forward to continued collaboration with government, education, and civil society institutions across Sri Lanka to support all Sri Lankan learners in the years ahead.
