Happy 55th Independence Day, Fiji!
Fiji is advancing learning and livelihoods across the islands. COL’s partnerships with the Ministry of Education, University of the South Pacific (USP), Fiji National University, Fiji Teachers Registration Authority, Pacific Polytech, and the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises & Development, includes:
- Trainning 4,725+ teachers in open and distance learning.
- Equipping 2,300+ youths with leadership and practical skills for employment.
- Strengthening higher education with AI-powered blended learning at USP.
- Launching national OER resources contextualised to Fiji’s curriculum.
Fiji’s path forward is one of building inclusive higher education systems, expanding technology-enabled learning, and ensuring that open education bridges digital divides while fostering opportunities for all.

Happy 63rd Independence Day, Uganda!
Uganda continues to make significant strides in inclusive and sustainable education, including strengthening its efforts in open and distance learning. COL values its partnerships with the Ministry of Education & Sports, Makerere University, Gulu University, Kyambogo University, Uganda Management Institute (UMI) , Digital Woman Uganda (DWU), PLAVIO, KampaBits, and RUFORUM.
Recent achievements with these institutions across Uganda include:
- Empowering 6,000+ learners with skills courses, including 4,500 women and girls.
- Training over 147 government staff on gender equality.
- Strengthening blended learning at UMI with over 5,000 students enrolled.
- Supporting farmers with digital learning tools to improve agriculture and livelihoods.
These achievements reflect Uganda’s commitment to equity, resilience, and innovation in education and community development.
